On September 17th, twelve luck students from the latin jazz program at Roosevelt School District attended a special Backstage Class at Mesa Center for the Arts with Return to Forever. The theater director, Randy Vogel, led a tour through the various venues on site which was complemented by insights related to ticketing and marketing by EC Board Member, Maria Brunner and Danny Zeilsko Presents team member Krystal Muellar. After the tour students were treated to an interactive drum circle led by rhythm master and EC Board Member, Frank Thompson. Afterwards the youth saw a set by Zappa Plays Zappa before heading backstage to meet the infamous group Return to Forever. The students were able to snap pictures with the band members, get autographs and ask questions before being treated to their show. What a night!
Below is a testimonial from Eddie Gaona, a music teacher from Roosevelt school district who brought his students on the field trip:
“The way Ear Candy organized the whole musical/educational experience for my students was thought out in a way that was educational, fun, thought provoking and entertaining!. My students had many conversations and questions about everything they experienced from; Randy's tour of Mesa Center for the Arts, to Crystal's explanation of her position at the box office, to Maria's experience is marketing, the drum circle and then to finish it off with two Great Bands. Zappa plays Zappa and Return to Forever. (WOW!) You open my students eyes to job and career opportunities in and around music and this experience will last them a life time. Ear Candy is important in many more ways than just giving instruments to students! You made a difference in my students lives!”
Special thanks to Danny Zeilsko Presents for making this possible! For more pictures check out our Facebook page.
