Hello. I am a choral/orchestra teacher at a TItle I school, Coronado High School. when I began teaching here five years ago, there were 15 students in one choir, 23 students in an orchestra and one small guitar class. Now, I have two sections of guitar, a large orchestra, and three choirs.

We would really appreciate your help and are encouraged by this opportunity to ask for instruments through your program.

If you are able, your contribution would not only benefit the number of students listed, but have an overal impact of pride and gratification that someone cared enough to see to their musical needs.

Thank you.

Desert Shadows Middle School

Desert Shadows Middle School has recently taken a new direction in its educational endeavor by starting the Academies at Desert Shadows. The goal of the Academies is to revitalize the growth of the student body at DSMS by giving students the opportunity to choose a field of study that specifically focuses on their desires as a student. The students have the choice of studying Engineering, Foreign Languages, Visual Arts and Musical Arts.

The Band program at DSMS is a part of this new Academy look. The great thing about that is the interest in the Band program has boosted enrollment and greatly increased the number of students in Band, Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble.

Unfortunately our district has restricted funding for our arts programs and has no funding for new instruments, which leaves a growing program, like the Academy, without a means to provide for its students.

The Academy of Music at DSMS provides an opportunity for students to get a first class educational experience in the musical arts. I believe that the Band Academy will continue to grow at a rapid rate because of that opportunity. With your support we can make sure that there are instruments available for future musicians, regardless of district cutbacks.

If you would like to contact me about any questions you have please feel free to email me at msporrer@pvlearners.net.

Thank you for your generosity!!
